PURPOSE:To prevent a catalyst body from being broken due to heat, and to increase the efficiency of oxidizing reaction of a combustor, in which generation of heat from fuel is taken place on a catalyst body, by arranging a plurality of catalysts in series, and by disposing a catalyst carrier not having an oxidized catalyst, between each catalyst body. CONSTITUTION:After a combustion sleeve 1 is heated by an energized sheath heater 7, a turbo-fan 14, a liquid fuel atomizing plate 11, and a fuel dispersing plate 12 are rotated by a motor 9, and fuel is fed from a liqud fuel feed tube 19, then the fuel is sprayed over the atomizing surface 6 in the form of particles by the actions of an atomizing plate 11 and a fuel dispersing plate 12. The fuel is mixed with the air for combustion fed from a fan 14, passing through a dispersing plate 5 and a backfire preventing plate 3, being oxidized and generating heat on the surface of a composite 2. Then, the fuel is ignited by electrodes 25, and is burnt by the intermediary of the catalyst. The composite body 2 is composed of catalyst carriers 26-31, provided with a plurality of small pores 25 to a heat-resistant, non-organic member, and catalyst bodies 29'31 carrying oxidized catalyst on a catalyst carrier, made of the same material, both arranged, alternately in series, closely contacted to each other. |
