PURPOSE:To join two metallic tubes firmly in joining two thin metallic tubes by expanding the end of one tube and fitting the end of another tube into the former through a gasket and then deforming the tip of the expanded tube inward. CONSTITUTION:The end of a thin metallic tube 1 is expanded and a tapered socket 3 is formed. Next, the fitting end (b) of a tube 2 is inserted into the socket 3 of the tube 1 through a ring-shaped elastic gasket 5 having a tapered face 5 corresponding to the inside shape of the socket 3 on the outer face. Then, only the tip 4 of the socket 3 of the tube 1 is plastically deformed inward by pressing with a tool. The ring-shaped elastic gasket 5 is pressed strongly, and pushed in between inner peripheral face of the socket 3 and outer periphery of the fitting end 6 and compressed, and stuck firmly to the faces by restoring force. Thus, joining having high airtightness and thrust resistance is effected. |
