The control cct. for discharge lamp comprises input terminals(A, B) for connecting to the power source(s), output terminals(C, D) for connecting to the discharge lamp(L), capacitor(C1) connected between the input terminal(A) and the output terminal(C), and attenuator(R1) connected between the input terminal(B) and the output terminal (D). the capacitor(C1) has suitable capacitance value to pass the operating current from the power source to the load. The attenuator(R1) has adequate impedance value to minimize the excess peak current flowing through the lamp.
