The lock nut (1) consists of a standard hexagonal nut (2) having a tapered extension (3). The nut and its extension have a common continuous screw thread. The tapered extension is deformed into oval shape by punching two diametrically opposed indentations (13) parallel to the axis (9). The nut screws freely onto the bolt up to the point of entry of the latter onto the tapered section. From this point an increasing torque is necessary on the nut in order to force the tapered section onto the bolt. The nut can be removed and re-tightened while maintaining its flexibility.
|
