PURPOSE:To provide a detecting element for ammonia gas and other basic gas, by using a lanthanidesdiphthalocyanine complex. CONSTITUTION:A base 1 is for holding a carrier 2 in a given location and state, and is formed of a glass plate or a film. The carrier 2 holds a lanthanidesdiphthalocyanine complex, and is for forming a weakly acidic atmosphere, consisting of a porous, for example, oxidized silica gel layer. A lanthanidesphthalocyanine complex 3 is held at the inside of the carrier 2. In the manufacture, for example, chloroform solution of the lanthanidesdiphthalocyanine (lanthanides, e.g., uropium, lutetium, is selected as a center metal), drops on the carrier 2 and is dried to produce a subject element. The detection of gas enables the detecting element so produced to change from a red to a green, and hydrogen chloride gas allows it to be restored to the original red. |
