A conveyor with a delay device, especially for ceramic plates, consists of transport rollers (3) arranged in pairs. The transport rollers are arranged in close succession along a transport track (2) and receive the transport track (2) between them, the transport plane of the transport track lying somewhat below the transport plane of the transport rollers (3). Each pair (3) of transport rollers is fixed on a shaft (4) which has a drive roller at one end, the diameter of the drive rollers increasing slightly in the conveying direction. The drive rollers are caused to rotate by a tangentially contacting belt (8), which, for its part, is driven by a motor (16). <IMAGE>
