PURPOSE:To produce a wire coil of a heat-treated wire rod having uniform perform ance over the entire length and causing no entanglements during un-coiling by dropping and stacking wire rod rings in such a way that they stack in a regularly offcentered non-concentrical pattern with respect to the falling center. CONSTITUTION:A steel wire rod 2 of high temps. come out from a hot rolling mill 1 is passed through a guide pipe 7 mounted to a rotating cone 6 of a laying type coiler and is thereby successively formed into rings 8 which are dropped into a hot water tank 4 right under the coiler. At this time, the cone 6 is arranged to rotate in such a way that the center of a ring guide 5 provided between the same and hot water deviates at a constant speed from the center of the cone 6, that is, the falling center of the rings 8. Hence, the rings 8 out from the cone 6 fall successively into the hot water in sliding contact with the inside wall of the guide 5, thereby stacking in a regularly offcentered non-concentrical pattern. As a result, the wire rod is cooled uniformly by the phenomena of boiling heat transfer. |
