Compounds having the formula <FORM:1100419/C2/1> (wherein Het is a furan, thiophene or pyridine ring and n is 2 or 3), and salts thereof, are prepared by reacting a halide of general formula <FORM:1100419/C2/2> (wherein Hal is a halogen atom and X is a hydroxyl, alkoxy, or amino group) with an amine of general formula H2N-(CH2)n-Het and thereafter, if necessary, saponifying the ester or amide group. Pharmaceutical compositions, having diuretic action and suitable for oral or parenteral administration, comprise compounds of Formula (I) above, or their salts, in admixture with suitable solid or liquid pharmaceutical carriers or adjuvants; they may be in the form of tablets, dragees, capsules, solutions, suspensions or emulsions. |
