PURPOSE:To obtain the captioned printer having one column head whose printing speed has been improved and noises have been reduced, by alternatively performing the printing wherein the head is moved forward and the printing wherein the head is moved backward. CONSTITUTION:In a serial dot printer having one column head, convertionary, the head prints at 2 after it has moved on a run-up part 1, and then it is moved back the distance of the run-up, and therafter the next printing starts therefrom, while in the present system, when an odd nth letter is printed, the head prints at 2 after it has moved on a run-up part 1, and moves forward a distance corresponding to two letters to stop, and when an even mth letter is printed, it moves back therefrom through a run-up part 1 to print at 2 and stops. Thus, the rotational number of reverse rotation of a pulse motor can be halved, the load on the motor can be reduced, and a small and inexpensive motor can be used, or the printing speed can be improved. |
