A vane (3) is mounted pivotably about a stationary axle (5) on a stand (1, 2). A hydraulic cylinder (8) with appropriate reversal (11) actuates the vane (3) alternately for forward motion (16) and return motion (19). During forward motion (16), the wings (17) of the vane blade (6) are directed transversely to the pivoting direction (16), whereas, during the return motion (19), they are folded together into the position represented by dot-and-dash lines by the generated flow of liquid manure. Approximately one third of energy can be saved in comparison with a conventional agitator and an optimum circulation of the liquid manure can be achieved. <IMAGE>
