A dry premix is first prepd., contg. magnesium hydroxide and magnesium chloride, in which the wt. ratio of the MgO in the Mg(OH)2 to the MgCl2 is between 0.8 and 2.0. A mixt. is then made contg. by wt. 80-85% of the dry premix and 15-20% water, plus 45-55% of hardening fillers. The percentage of the fillers is based on the total wt. of the mixt.; and the fillers have a max. particle size of 5 mm. The object is to simplify the prepn. of the mortar on a site where it is to be used, and to employ non-absorbent fillers. The settling out of the fillers is prevented, and the mixt. can be made into exact shapes and does not crack.
