The appts. for mounting a coil (17) on a core (6) consisting of a stack of E shaped laminations has a base plate (1) with a magazine for the laminations formed by four vertical angles (4) mounted on it. In front of the magazine there exists a coil positioning device (8) with a block (10) carrying a coil, which is swung by a handle (11) into alignment with the core, ready for assembly. This action closes a microswitch (16) at the same time as the coil enters a guide (15) between the block and the magazine. The microswitch operates a piston and cylinder device (3) which pushes the stacked laminations around the coil. It is then retracted when the block is swung back. The block has a spring loaded coil carrier (12) which releases the coil when retained inside the guide.
