The invention relates to a process for the preparation of fibre-reinforced shaped objects with a matrix of a hardened inorganic binder (e.g. Portland cement), which is used to prepare an aqueous pulp of reinforcing and retention fibres. This is followed by the preparation of an aqueous slurry of hydraulic inorganic binder particles and the reinforcing and retention fibres by suspending the hydraulic inorganic binder particles in the pulp. The aqueous slurry is then freed from water, and the resulting product is hardened. Hydrophilic colloidal particles (e.g. colloidal silica or clay particles) are dispersed in the pulp to ensure an improved fibre distribution in the slurry, to improve the dehydration properties of the slurry and to ensure a higher strength for the hardened product.
