Apparatus for smoothing lacquer masks onto ceramic articles, especially for flatware

The apparatus is used in the fine ceramics industry. The object is to increase the decorative quality while simultaneously improving the productivity of labour and eliminating the operating stages which are notable for monotony. After the lacquer mask, freed from its paper substrate as a supporting material, has been mechanically or manually laid on the flatware, all inclusions of air and water are eliminated by the mechanical smoothing. This is possible with an apparatus having a rotatable receiving disc and centring device, and a lever system with an interchangeable smoothing tool. To this end, use is made of a device for manually actuating the lever system, recording instruments and monitoring devices, and an automatic control system with a program transmitter to reproduce the manual movement. Also provided is a pressure regulation system for reproducing the force pattern. The smoothing tool can be designed as a flat sheet of profiled rubber or as a rubberised roller.
