A pressure control device (120) adjusts the control pressure of the control air, derived from the charge air of an exhaust turbocharger of an internal combustion engine, for a bypass valve in a bypass line circumventing the exhaust gas turbine to an at least constant high value when the ambient pressure falls and/or the ambient temperature rises. For this purpose the pressure control device (120) contains a barometric cell (124), having a compression spring (124') inside and connected fixedly on one side to the housing (122) and on the other side to a piston (141), to which a bimetal strip (159) is fixed, which is supported on the other side on the housing (122), the piston (141) being connected to a U-type bellows (142), which is clamped in its edge area in the housing (122) and separates an atmospherically ventilated chamber (123) situated in the housing (122) from a control chamber (143), which has a control line connection (157) and a charge air inlet connection (156) governed by a valve (147, 148, 149) controlled as a function of the piston position, the piston (141) on its end face having a small tube (146) connected to the atmosphere, which in one piston position serves as tappet for a double seat valve acting in the opening direction, which is formed by a plate (147) loaded by means of a spring (148) and a valve seat (149). <IMAGE>
