PURPOSE:To enable registering and reading of a Chinese compound word without increasing the number of keys by using a keyboard with a multistage shift key. CONSTITUTION:A keyboard is constituted by a multistsge shift key group K1, a character key group K2 to which a character is entered according to the number of stages of a key group K1 and a controlling key group K3. In order to register a desired Chinese compound word the key groups K1, K2 are used and characters of the desired Chinese compund word are inputted, then the characters are displayed on a CRT. Thereafter, a compound word registering key 20 of the key group K3 is used and the first and the last characters of a compound word to be registered are assigned. After the assignment of a compound word completes, any key among the key group K1 is pushed, the characters of desired compound word are stored in the region of built-in memories corresponding to the pushed key number. For reading of the registered compound word, with a pushed state of the key number pushed before a compound word reading key 21 of the key group K3 is pushed. Through the process, character data of a Chinese compound word stored in the prescribed region of the memory are read to be displayed on a CRT. |
