The method of producing a chair with a back-rest, especially a bucket chair, consists of cutting out a contoured section from a sheet of laminated wood. Once the section (2) is cut out, it is fixed at the base to a curved reinforcement to hold it in shape. The reinforcement is made up of five curved elements joined end to end. Two vertical uprights are fixed to the section which is then attached to a flat seat part. The curved reinforcement (3) is the exact shape of the back of the seat, i.e. oval, or a circle arc and the inside faces of the arcuate elements slope rearwardly to match the angle of the chair back.
