Compact carbon-di:oxide waveguide laser - has outer skeleton chamber resonator with access through top plate to resonator mirrors

The laser (10) comprises a central laser body (11) with outer resonator support skeleton (12) between end plates (14,15) to support the resonator mirrors (16,16a) and with everything housed in an outer tube (17). At the tube top a closing plate (18) provides access to the top mirror (16a). The tube base has an outer housing (19) of insulating material and a base cooling fan (20) mounted on vibration dampers (20a). The resonator skeleton frame (12,14,15), including the adjustment screws (14b,15b) are made out of low expansion material. The ceramic laser tube body (11) has an outer lower part housing (19) of elasticised insulating material and is screw fixed to the outer tube (17) of the laser. The insulating material is sufficiently flexible to provide expansion equalisation with the resonator.
