<p>Parent Patent describes a support for a reactor pressure vessel designed to permit thermal movement of the vessel; the vessel is contained within a burst-limiting enclosure consisting of biological shield, upper restraining linkage systems to the vessel and bottom support; the bottom support of the vessel consists of its skirt, and a spring connection resisting vertical load but permitting radial expansion connecting this skirt to a support ring mounted in the biological shield wall. In this addn., the springs consist of tension bolts with their bottom heats engaged in a block fixed to the lower end of the vessel skirt, and with their top ends anchored in a projecting corbel on the inner and outer sides of the annular space in the support block. A simplified arrangement, without any bearings or rolling parts, which can nevertheless adequately accommodate the expansion movements. After installation, any adjustment necessary to the tension bolts can be effected at the upper nuts no access being required to the lower parts.</p> |
