PURPOSE:To realize a vertical orientation film which is stable with time and having a high reproducibility, by using a psecific mixture for an orientation processing agent to be coated with printing. CONSTITUTION:A composition consisting of a mixture of (1) a silane coupling agent having a long-chain alkyl group such as the hexadecyl triethyoxy silane or the like, (2) the tetraalkoxy titanate such as tetrabutoxy titanate or the like or its qolymer and (3) the ladder-type silicone polymer such as polyphenyl sil-sesquioxane or the like is coated with printing on the surface of a substrate which is adjacent to the liquid crystal. A heat treatment is applied at 100 deg.-200 deg.C after formation a coated film to obtain an orientation property which is highly stable in terms of aging and can withstand a heating of about two hours at 200 deg.C with a high reproducibility. The mixing ratio of (1) to (2) is preferably regulated to 0.1-10 expressed in terms of Ti/Si. With addition of (3), both a high resistance to heat and (a) thickening function can be obtained. |
