To renew the seating in a domestic water tap, the tap actuating mechanism is removed, and the aperture in the web of the seating is reamed. An apparatus is then inserted in the tap, an aligner (30) being screwed into the tap body. Inside the aligner (30) is a withdrawing rod (25), to the bottom of which is attached a bead expander (20), and held between the rod (25) and expander (20) is a ferrule (40). While the ferrule (40) is held in the reamed aperture with its flange (41) resting on the web, nut (50) is turned forcing the rod (25) and expander (20) upwards. The ferrule (40) is then firmly fixed in the aperture, forming the new seat. |
