<p>The automatic door uses a triangular frame moved at one apex by a rack and pinion mechanism. The second apex is a hinge at the centre of the door panel, the third a hinge at a door post. A rack mechanism is fixed inside a rail fixed to the door lintel and is moved linearly by manual, pneumatic, hydraulic, or electric actuation. A pinion wheel is displaced by the rack movement. The pinion is attached to one end of the frame which holds the door panel. The frame contains a pivot at the top of the door panel and on the vertical centre line of the door. The pivot couples the door to a hinged link which is pivoted at an extremity of the door lintel. The movement of the rack causes the door to open away from both door posts, towards the centre of the door opening.</p> |
