Parameters of identification of a target and of a background are applied to a digital processing unit 2 operating in asynchronism in relation to the receiving radar 4 to deliver to an echo generator 1 target and background signals dependent upon the factor by which the evolution frequency is less than the recurrence frequency of the radar 4. The analogue circuit 1 operating in synchronism with the emission of the radar produces analog signals, the evolution of which takes place at a frequency greater than the recurrence frequency of the radar and combines these signals with the signals emanating from the unit 2 to form output microwave signals which are modulated in amplitude, phase and duration and which are representative of echoes from the target and from the background which are simulated.
