<p>The drive mechanism rests on a guide frame movable along vertical support posts guided in holders in the cutter cage. It is used in a top milling cutter with provision for fine adjustment of cutting depth. The cutter cage (1) has a threaded spindle (16) mounted in it, aligned parallel to the posts (2,3), and passing through the guide frame (8) so as to be rotatable and axially immovable. The spindle is fitted with a transverse threaded slide (19) brought into, or out of, engagement with it by a change lever (22). The spindle may have indicator markings, and have a thread pitch of approx. 1mm. This permits easy setting of cutting depth in every area, without subsequently turning the spindle backwards or forwards.</p> |
