PURPOSE:To prevent the distortion of a screen peripheral section by providing a high resistance wall surface electrode on the side facing a tube wall between a phosphor screen and a rear electrode. CONSTITUTION:For example, a high resistance wall surface electrode 9 which has a specific resistance of about 10<8>-10<11>OMEGAcm is provided at a peripheral section between a phosphor screen 4 and a rear electrode 5, especially at a section which is adjacently facing the wall surface of a tube body. For instance, by electrically connecting the end edges 9a and 9b of a high resistance electrode 9 to a target electrode 3 and the rear electrode 5, respectively, for example, 5KV phosphor potential is fixedly applied to the end edge 9a and for example, 4KV rear electrode potential is fixedly applied to the end edge 9b. This permits the potential distribution in the electrode 9 to correspond to that of the space for the main deflection system section between the phosphor screen 4 and the rear electrode 5 and the potential distribution of the space for the main deflection system section to form a uniform parallel magnetic field even in a peripheral section. |
