<p>PURPOSE:To elevate degree of conversion to H2 and CO in the reforming of hydrocarbon while preventing deposition of carbon by allowing a sulfur compd. to coexist in the feed gas and reforming hydrocarbons at a specified temp. using steam, CO2, and O2. CONSTITUTION:Hydrocarbons are reformed using at least one among steam, CO2, and O2 to produce a mixture of H2, CO, or their mixture. In this process, 3-20ppm sulfur compd. is allowed to coexist in the feed gas to be fed for reforming and the reforming temp. is so adjusted simultaneously that the outlet temp. of the reforming furnace is held at >=850 deg.C. Breakage and pulverization of the catalyst is prevented if appropriate amt. of sulfur compd. is allowed to be coexisted in the feed gas, because disproportionation reaction of CO which is liably caused at low temp. range (<=800 deg.C) is inhibited by the poisoning effect for the catalyst of the sulfur compd. in the low temp. range, and deposition of carbon is also prevented in accompany with the prevention of the disproportionation reaction of CO.</p> |
