PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound, producible in a single step by using ethylenediamine at a low material cost and useful as a catalyst for a polyurethane of an epoxy curing agent. SOLUTION: Ethylenediamine is reacted with acetic acid and methanol in chemical equiv. amounts or any of which are in excessive amounts in the presence of zinc oxide (which may directly be used, supported on silica, etc., mixed with other oxides) and nickel (e.g. Raney nickel that be supported on silica, alumina, etc., or stabilized nickel) at 150-500 deg.C (preferably 180-400 deg.C) temperature, preferably under a hydrogen stream (vapor phase) (according to a continuous, a batch, a semibatch, a fixed bed or a fluidized bed reaction to industrially advantageously afford the objective compound. |
