<p>The multi-purpose intra-uterine probe sounds the depth of the fundus and measures the width of the uterus at two different insertion depths. It has an extendable wing mechanism with two stable wingspreads selected by a ball-point pen-type push-button control mechanism. Indicating windows which are colour-coded in relation to the rotating push-button of the control mechanism illustrate the proper sequence of read-out locations. The entire probe, including both the flexible wing-forming sleeve (44) and the connecting rod (46) which foreshortens the sleeve to collapse it into its wing configurations, is a disposable component which removably and replaceably connects to the handle assembly. The foreshortening rod connects to an actuating mechanism which reciprocates the rod relative to the handle tube (34).</p> |
