This closure is used for closing the end of a pipeline for explosive materials. In order safely to prevent the pipe bursting in the region of the pipe end in the event of an explosion in the pipeline system, without considerable reinforcement of the pipe wall, the closure has a tapering body (3) which projects into the pipe (2) and whose base surface is connected to a disc (5) which closes the pipe end in a gas-tight manner. <IMAGE>
