摘要 PURPOSE:To enable generation of normal output by bringing a 1st electrode of a solid electrolyte layer into contact with the reference gaseous atmosphere in the hollow part of a central shaft via an aperture and bringing a 2nd electrode into contact with the atmosphere of the gas to be measured on the outside circumference of the central shaft. CONSTITUTION:The central shaft 11 is constituted of an oxygen ion conductive material formed by solutionizing ZrO2 and Y2O3 and is provided with the hollow part 12 opened in the base end part which is an atm. air introducing port. A front end part 11a thereof is sealed and the aperture 14 penetrating to the hollow part 12 is formed. The planar solid electrolyte layer 151 is constituted of a ZrO2 oxygen ion conductive material solutionized with Y2O3. The 1st and 2nd electrodes 152, 153 are formed by vapor deposition, etc., on both faces of the electrolyte layer 151 so as to be aligned to the aperture 14 of the shaft 11. The oxygen concn. detecting element constituted in such a manner is set in an exhaust gas. Then, the outside surface thereof is brought into contact with the exhaust gas via a protective layer 17 and the electrode 152 and the inside surface is brought into contact with the reference gas set in the part of the shaft 11. The electric signal corresponding to the content of the oxygen in the exhaust gas is thus obtd. between the electrodes 152 and 153.
