The appts. comprises a spark pulse generating system for applying an initial pulse to the spark plug in an IC engine cylinder. It includes an ignition coil with controlled current flow into the primary and an engine driven spark timing control. Additionally, a dc to dc generator produces a continuous output voltage to sustain the sparks. It is designed to provide a constant voltage over a wide current range and has an added overcurrent trip facility.. The ignition system is for motor vehicles and is designed to give improved performance with lean basis engines. It also reduces spark erosion of the plugs. The IC engine also includes an EGR system responsive to the strength of the fuel mixture and engine temp. |
