Disclosed are a method and a system for providing an overlay network by interoperating an underlay network. The method for providing a virtual network based on an overlay between data centers (DC) connected to each other by a wide area network (WAN) includes: a step in which a network virtualization authority verifies the reachability between a source tenant system connected to a first network virtualization entity included in a first DC and a target tenant system connected to a second network virtualization entity included in a second DC; a step in which the network virtualization authority delivers forwarding information the network virtualization authority has acquired by interoperating the first network virtualization entity to the second network virtualization entity; and a step in which the network virtualization authority establishes a path by performing a tunneling process between the first network virtualization entity and the second network virtualization entity by using information and a control command with regard to a WAN section. |
