PURPOSE:To prevent the percolation of liquid to the feeding side of gas under pressure and decrease the diameters of the bubbles produced in the liquid by constituting the surface consisting of a material having affinity to the liquid and the surface exhibiting water repellency respectively in a porous material of a gas diffuser. CONSTITUTION:As a material having affinity to the liquid, a material having an SP value close to the solubility parameter (SP) of the liquid is used. For example, in the case of using water as the liquid, polyvinyl alcohol, cellulose acetate or the like having the SP value close to that of water is used. As a water-repellent porous material, fluorine plastics, silicone plastics, rubber, polyethylene, etc. are used alone or in combination. The porous material is preferably of 5-50mum pore sizes, 50- 95% porosities and 0.1-10mm. thicknesses, and nonwoven structure laminated with fibers or the like is desirable as the structure for the porous material. |
