摘要 <p>The composite material consists of strip or plate with min. length 1000 mm. min. width 100 mm, and a min. thickness of a few mm. The material is made using an austenitic steel substrate, which is coated on at least one side with an intermediate layer(I) made of a non-magnetic Cu alloy contg. min. 50% Cu, and min. 0.01 mm thick; and layer(I) is covered by a Cu or Cu alloy layer(II). Layer(I) is pref. a Cu-Ni alloy, or a Cu-Ni-Fe alloy; and the two layers(I,II) are pref. applied to both sides of the substrate. Hot roll cladding is pref. used to make the composite, where the substrate is first clad on both sides with layer(I) and a second operation is used to apply layers(II). Used e.g. in mfg. field coils for thermonuclear fusion plant, where the composite strip must be non-magnetic and resist temp. changes from -200 to +100 deg.C.</p>
