CHANGING METHOD FOR TONE OF BLACK AND WHITE PRINT

PURPOSE:To easily obtain an image with a desired cold or warm black tone on one kind of black and white photographic paper by forming a silver emulsion layer contg. a coupler for a cold tone and a silver emulsion layer contg. a coupler for a warm tone on a support and selectively using a specified filter. CONSTITUTION:Undercoat layer 2 is formed on support 1 such as photographic paper, and layer 2 is coated with silver halide emulsion layer 3 for a spectrally unsensitized cold black tone contg. a coupler such as a lipophilic pyrazolone coupler for a cold black tone (having the maximum value of spectral sensitivity in the bluish purple region of 350-450nm). Layer 3 is then coated with silver halide emulsion layer 4 for a warm black tone (the maximum value of spectral sensitivity is in the green region near 500nm) contg. a naphthol coupler spectrally sensitized with ortho- chromium, and protective layer 5 is formed on layer 4 to obtain a photoreceptor. This photoreceptor is exposed through a filter for a cold or warm black tone and developed to give an image with the desired cold or warm black tone.
