A slide fastener stringer comprises material(20) folded at one edge and secured away from the fold edge, then divided into loop straps(38) to hold a continuous spiral filament coupling element(14, 24). Strap width is much greater than slot width and the slots(22) are oblique to the fold line so that each pair of straps is separated by solt halves oppositely inclined to the edge and occupied by fastener member legs which are similarly inclined to the edge. The straps are bonded to the member heels(36) and the overlapping parts of the edge fold are secured by a threadless bond. The member heels extend at an oblique angle to the plane of the stringer and the straps extend perpendicularly to the heels.
