The heat exchanger (radiator or heat absorber) has conduits (40) for the medium, these conduits being guided in serpentine configuration alongside one another in loops. The conduits (40) are led in channels (A) of prefabricated shaped plates (1). In their straight areas, the conduits (40) are surrounded on their underside and the two longitudinal sides by heat-conducting plates. For adjustability to maximum heat capacities with quickest heating, despite the lower limit on the radius of curvature of the conduits, the channels (A) of the shaped plates (1) are arranged at an equal distance from one another in the area of the straight channel sections for various spacings of the conduits (40) necessary for the maximum possible required specific heat capacity. In the area (2) of the curved channel sections, the channels (A) are equipped with guide surfaces (5, 6, 13 to 17, 20, 21, 23 to 25, 28) and counter-surfaces (8, 9). The conduits (40) can be in radii of curvature greater than or equal to the minimum permissible radius of curvature and can be laid at different conduit spacings.
