In a rotary ironing machine having an extractor fan to remove the moist air, the fan is kept at full speed only so long as damp laundry is being fed to the machine, the speed being considerably reduced, possibly to zero, when the supply of laundered articles is interrupted. The ingoing articles are monitored by a mechanical, optical or electronic feeler, which switches the fan to low speed if no ingoing items are detected. The switching signal is delayed by 20 sec. to avoid repeated short-duration switching-off caused by the gaps between a series of articles. This procedure prevents unnecessary heat-loss from the machine when there is no imput.
|
