To take a wound yarn package from a spinning pot a rotating spool (11), with a variable diameter, is lowered at a high speed into a slowly-rotating spinning pot (5), after a minimum diameter has been achieved in the yarn package (14), according to the rotary count of the drawing rollers (1) and the yarn running freely in the spinning pot (5). By synchronising the rotation, the yarn package (14) is fixed from within, and can be drawn out of the spinning pot (5) at an extremely low rotary speed or at rest. The spun yarn is severed at a defined point between the drawing unit (1) and the spinning pot (5). The system ensures that the yarn can be extracted and stored safely, no matter what type of yarn is being processed, giving a yarn package of a given diameter with undamaged inner windings.
