PURPOSE:To readily obtain a variety of hues in a plural color solid state light emitting device by electrically disposing respective light emitting junctions in parallel with each other with respect to a common electrode so that the respective color light intensities may be independently adjusted. CONSTITUTION:The first N type layer 2, the first P type layer 3, the second P type layer 4 and the second N type layer 5 are sequentially accomulated by an epitaxial growth on the main surface 6 of an N type GaP substrate 1, a red light emitting junction 7 is formed between the layers 2 and 3, and a green light emitting junction 8 is formed between the layers 4 and 5. The etched part 12 reaching the laminated interior from the surface of the laminated layer is formed by etching or the like. The first and second ohmic electrodes 9, 10 are formed on the back surface of the substrate 1 and on the front surface of the layer 5, and a common electrode 11 is formed to the first and second junctions 7 and 8 on the etched part 12. The common electrode 11 is electrically disposed in parallel with the junctions 7, 8, the respective color emitting light intensities can be independently adjusted, and a variety of hues can be obtained. |
