PURPOSE:To charge a drum without generating ozone, by making a soft electric resistor contact with a drum, and applying the voltage between both of them. CONSTITUTION:That which has stuck a soft member (c) of relatively high resistance (narrow fluffy cloth, etc.) on the electrode (b) having moderate resistance value is made to contact with the surface (a) to be charged (photosensitive drum, etc.). An AC power source (e) is connected to one side A of the electrode through the capacitor (f), and the capacitor (g) by which a DC power source (d) and an AC component are maintained to the earth potential is connected to the other point B. Constant DC voltage, and AC voltage which is attenuated as it goes to the point B from the point A are applied to the electrode. In this way, the surface (a) to be charged is charged without being damaged, and also no ozone is generated. |
