<p>PURPOSE:In a diesel engine equipped with an exhaust gas recirculator, to improve an efficiency of collecting particles of exhaust gas by providing a particles trapper next to a heat exchanger. CONSTITUTION:A heat exchanger 16 and a particles trapper 18 are disposed in an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine 10. An exhaust gas on the downstream side of the trapper 18 flows through an exhaust gas recirculation passage 24 into a suction pipe 12 at a specified recirculation ratio. As the circulated exhaust gas cools an exhaust gas which is carried into the trapper 18, an efficiency of collecting particles may be increased. To burn and remove particles, an exhaust gas recirculation control valve 26 is closed and the cooling is stopped for raising a temperature of exhaust gas. Thereby, the hot air generated in the trapper 181 burns the collected particles. Particles of exhaust gas can be collected and removed in said manner.</p> |
