<p>In solid samples of foodstuffs, animal feeds and raw materials therefor, the content of fat and protein and optionally other constituents such as carbohydrate is determined by converting a sample of the product into dispersed form by treatment with a basic aqueous solution combined with mechanical subdivision to obtain a dispersion in which the constituents are determined by quantitative IR transmission photometry. The measurement is correlated to measurement by a standard method. In this way, high exactitude and reproducibility in quantitative multicomponent determination on solid samples is obtained. </p> |
