The invention relates to a foot valve 1 in a pneumatic suction transport system for waste material. The foot valve is disposed on the lower part of a branch conduit 2 and is intended to collect the waste material before it is passed on through a main conduit 3. In order to eliminate problems with waste water leakage, offer a small structural volume and simple and dependable construction, the foot valve 1 according to the invention is provided with a valve body 4 configured as a hollow duct, which at its bottom part 4b, in the closed position, bears in a seal-forming manner against a sloping wall or valve seat 7 disposed in the valve housing. The valve body, in its top part 4a, is pivotably mounted about horizontal spindles 6a, b.
