<p>PURPOSE:To prepare the titled substance without troubles such as corrosion of the reaction apparatus, by reacting methanol with CO in the presence of a catalyst composed of Rh or Pt metal and a rare earth metal oxide and pref. pretreated with CO-containing gas. CONSTITUTION:In the preparation of the titled substance by the reaction of methanol with CO, a composition composed of Rh or Pt metal and a rare earth metal oxide is used as the reaction catalyst. The weight ratio of the rare earth metal oxide to metallic Rh or Pt used as the substrate is 0.1-100. The mixture of both components may be formed as it is, or supported on a carrier. The catalytic activity of the above catalyst can be improved by pretreating with a CO-containing gas or a compound capable of producing CO on the surface of the catalyst (e.g. methanol) prior to the reaction. EFFECT:The purification, etc. of the product can be carried out easily since halogen compounds are not used in the reaction.</p> |
