PURPOSE:To enhance the display contrast of an electrochromic (EC) display device and accelerate the reaction and response of the device by using WO3 as an EC material and mixing a small amount of an alkaline earth metal compound into the WO3 to increase the quantity of an electric current flowing through the device. CONSTITUTION:WO3 is used as an EC material for an EC display device, and an alkaline earth metallic compound such as CaO is added to the WO3 by a small amount such as 1.0wt%. Thus, the internal resistance of EC layer 3 and the interfacial resistance of layer 3 and electrolytic soln. 4 are reduced to increase the quantity of an electric current flowing through layer 3 and soln. 7, resulting in an enhnace display contrast and an improved reacting and responding speed. |
