PURPOSE: To inactivate a biological infection such as a virus by performing a pathogenic material inactivating treatment of an aqueous solution at a specific pH and containing a primary stabilizing agent such as sacharides and a secondary stabilizing agent such as neutral salts and then by removing a stabilizer, etc. CONSTITUTION: This method for inactivating a pathogenic material in a biological or a pharmaceutical substance (e.g.; a blood component such as an antihemophilic factor) is to mix a biological or a pharmaceutical substance in an aqueous solution containing at least one kind of a primary stabilizing agent selected from among a saccharide such as glucose, sucrose and xylose, or a sugar alcohol such as galactitol and glucosaminitol, and at least one kind of secondary stabilizing agent selected from among neutral salts, adjust pH of the aqueous solution approximately at 5.0-10.0, then perform the treatment for inactivating the pathogenic material in the solution and as necessary remove the stabilizers. |
