PURPOSE:To obtain a ceramic material for a living body having excellent bio- compatibility, bonded to periodontal tissue and having high toughness and high reliability, by forming glass ceramics from specific components. CONSTITUTION:Glass ceramics of a material for a living body containing staple fibers or whiskers uniformly dispersed in a glass ceramics sintered body consist of 40-70 SiO2, 15-40 Al2O3, 15-30 MgO, 70-100 SiO2+Al2O3+MgO, 0-5 CaO+SrO+BaO, 0-7 Na2O+K2O+Li2O, 0-10 TiO2+ZrO2 and 0-10 P2O5 on a wt.% basis. When the sum of SiO2, Al2O3 and MgO is 70% or less, the bending strength and toughness of a material lower. When the sum of CaO, SrO and BaO exceeds 5%, bending strength and toughness are not enhanced. Na2, K2O and Li2O promote the stability of glass to make work easy but, when the sum thereof exceeds 7%, the durability of glass ceramics is deteriorated. TiO2 and ZrO2 are added as a crystal nucleus forming agent and, when the total amount thereof exceeds 10%, melting becomes difficult and toughness is not enhanced. P2O5 is added as a crystal nucleus forming agent and enhances bio-compatibility but makes the melting of glass difficult when the content thereof is 10% or more. |
