PURPOSE:To read information on an original, both line by line and character by character, selectively and easily by outputting a sensor-all signal when a reader is in a stationary state during an original read or a predetermined one-line signal when it is moving in a subscan direction. CONSTITUTION:A picture signal from two-dimensional image sensor 4 is supplied to fixed contact (b) of change-over switch SW and the input of analog switch ASW. While travelling contact (a) is changed over to the side of contact (b), picture signals that correspond to all of (m) scanning lines of one frame are sent by sensor 4 from contact (a) to output terminal 11 and while contact (a) of switch SW is at the side of fixed contact (c), only a picture signal that corresponds to one specific scanning line in the one-frame picture signal is sent out from contact (a) to terminal 11 via switch ASW. In this case, picture signal extracting circuit 12 selects and outputs only the picture signal, which corresponds to the m/2-th nearly-center scanning line, among the picture signals corresponding to (m) scanning lines of one frame. |
