PURPOSE:To manufacture at a low cost the extremely thick steel plate of quality level similar to that obtained by the conventional method, by forging the killed steel ingot directly following to complection of the solidification without heating, and next, by feeding the ingot to the blooming pass. CONSTITUTION:When the killed steel ingot completes the solidification and is still preserving the heat at >=450 deg.C (especially >=750 deg.C) at the skin and core of the ingot, the ingot is subjected to the forging work without heating. The forging reduction is set to 20-40%, and the forging is given to the part <=50% from the top of the ingot; hereby, the porosity of the core can be smashed under the forging pressure. Next, the ingot is fed to the blooming pass, and is finished into the extremely thick steel plate. |
